Evidence and limits

This is a beginner reference, not a complete chronology. The earliest novels and the newest arcs do not share the same leaders, borders or version of the code.

Ranks and names

Kits are young cats; apprentices train under mentors; warriors hunt and defend the Clan. Medicine cats have healing and spiritual duties. A deputy assists the leader and normally succeeds them. Elders have retired from active duties.

Clan names commonly change with life stage: -kit, then -paw, then a warrior name. Leaders take -star. These conventions help explain Firepaw and Firestar, but exceptions and outsiders exist.

Book lore versus game rules

The novels explain the world, but a fictional fighting technique is not automatically an unlockable game skill. Clans of the Forest advertises original Lake Territories stories; Roblox roleplay servers can add their own conventions.

Questions people ask

Do I need to know the lore before reading?

No. Into the Wild introduces it through Rusty, an outsider learning Clan life.

Is StarClan another living Clan?

No. It is an ancestral afterlife, not a sixth living territory with the same daily organisation.

Does every roleplay rule come from the books?

No. Server etiquette and fan-created lore should be labelled separately from published canon.
