Warrior Cats name generator
A Clan name is a nature word plus a rank ending. Pick the rank, generate five examples, then change anything that collides with a cat you already love.
Build a name
Clan names in the books use a nature prefix plus a rank suffix. This tool only combines those public patterns. It does not pull the wiki’s name lists.
Up to five distinct suggestions. A fixed prefix and rank ending may allow only one.

Evidence and limits
The official Firestar profile supplies the example Rusty, Firepaw, Fireheart and Firestar. This independent tool combines original word pools with rank endings; it does not copy a complete canon name list or guarantee an unused name. Clan and coat filters are writing inspiration, not naming restrictions imposed by the books.
The endings that mean something
Use the ending that matches the cat’s rank in the scene you are writing.
| Rank | Ending | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Kit | kit | Sunkit |
| Apprentice | paw | Sunpaw |
| Warrior | a descriptive word | Sunfall, Fireheart |
| Leader | star | Sunstar, Firestar |
| Medicine cat | No required special ending | Jayfeather; a medicine-cat name is not forced to end in leaf |
Kittypet and loner names
Kittypets in the early books often keep a house-cat name until a Clan renames them. Rusty is the famous case. If the tool’s kittypet mode hands you Rusty or Smudge, treat it as a reminder of that pattern, not as a new canon cat.

Questions people ask
Can I filter by Clan or color?
Yes. Choose Clan inspiration or coat inspiration, then generate. Coat inspiration takes priority if both are set. These are original word pools, not restrictions in the books. You can enter your own prefix and warrior suffix.
Are unused names guaranteed?
No. This sample list is short on purpose and can still match a published cat.
Is this the official generator?
No. This independent writing tool is not published by Warrior Cats. Visit the official Games page for publisher quizzes and activities.
